GERMANY: Daimler, BMW, to share parts?

Mercedes-Benz and BMW will decide the extent of their cooperation by the end of November.

A car magazine said both companies are eyeing the Los Angeles motor show in November as a possible announcement date, Thomson Financial reported late Wednesday.

The automakers so far have agreed to share parts like air conditioners and brakes for future car models, the report said.

BMW management board member for development Klaus Draeger confirmed to Auto Motor und Sport that both companies are continuing their discussions and will make an announcement only if concrete results have been achieved, Thomson Financial said.

BMW jointly developed engines for its Mini line with PSA Peugeot Citroen and recently announced a parts and architecture tie-up with Fiat though details are still sketchy.
